New Pictures

Buckley is around 40 pounds now and just over 7 months old.  He likes to look out the window to see squirrels.

And he likes sleeping/ snuggling with his sister and brother.  It's a Buckley sandwich!

Crazy Coupler

This coupler leash is the best!  For months these dogs have been dragging me down to the dog park and trying to trip me, and that's all over now.. this coupler forces them to walk together nicely (and really slows them down!).  It is the best!!

Today is the big day!  I just dropped Buck off at the vet to be neutered.  I hope I can pick him up today and he doesn't have to stay overnight.  Here are some recent pictures :).

Cooper

Cooper is on the right.. he's Buck's friend from upstairs.  He's a 6 month old beagle and is very wild and crazy!  The playing can get intense, so Bunny is always there and supervise and step in when necessary.

Buck is 5 months old today!  He's only 29.5 pounds, though, and that worries me.  I thought he'd be putting on more weight.  Hopefully he has a growth spurt soon.  I think he is getting too much play time with Bunny and Cooper, and maybe not sleeping enough.  Of course, it is absolutely fine if he stays this size, as long as he is healthy.

This is my favorite picture so far.  They love each other!

Even got the wacker in the picture!  I've never had to use it.. it's just around to maintain order.

Buck likes to help in the kitchen.

Penny for your thoughts, Bunny?

Buckley is 4 months old today, and 23 pounds.  This is his new bed, and he really likes it.  He naps on his back, which is the opposite of Bunny.. it's funny to watch.

I think it's almost time for obedience classes.  It's very hard to train him with anything, because when I give treats, Bunny and Basil are right there..  With all the chaos, I'm not sure that Buck is learning anything.  Bunny didn't do too well at the Petsmart training, so I'm thinking of taking Buck to North Coast Dogs.  They are a bit expensive, but I heard they are the best in the area.  If the instructor comes to my place, maybe they can give me some tricks on how to train him with two other pets around.

In this picture they are playing with a toy in Buck's bed.  They can play for hours!

This past weekend we had some nice weather, and it was Buck's first time outside for more than a few minutes.  He learned his 15 foot boundaries, which he didn't like at first.  He barked quite a bit, but the neighbors were happy, all stopping over to meet the new puppy.  I worry about chipmunk season, which will start up in a couple months.. Bunny is crazy about chasing chipmunks and I imagine Buck will be, too.

After a lot of fresh air, they were all tired.  Buck didn't seem to mind Bunny's legs on him while they napped.  Basil is also in this picture, observing.

First Buck Blog!

I'm going to give blogging a try!  My name is Lesley and I recently got a bassett hound puppy, Buckley.  I've been researching a lot online, and disappointed to find that most blog sites require registration and payment even.  So, hopefully with this blog I'll be able to get some traffic and some much needed advice!  I have an 8 year old beagle named Bunny, but the bassett puppy is quite a bit different than Bunny was as a puppy.  Hopefully I can keep up with this blog, and not get bored of it.  I'll try to post some cute stories, too.  Right now Buckley is 15 weeks old and weighs 21 pounds.  All of the online weight calculators say he will be 32 pounds at fully grown.  That seems awfully low for a male bassett hound.  We'll see...  Thanks for reading!
